Resilient Minds is seeking bright, creative and empathic Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to partner with patients on their journey to realizing wholeness. Southern California, in particular the Los Angeles region, has a dearth of Psychiatric NPs in leadership positions perhaps largely due to the lack of a Psychiatry NP program at UCLA. I hope to bring the collaborative environment at Vanderbilt, UCSF and UCSD to the Los Angeles and Ventura area. I have found that patients are less interested in what initials come after their provider’s name, but rather if their provider is competent, of sound and flexible mind, empathic, able to hold psychic space and to provide unconditional positive regard. Psychiatry is not a black and white science. Beyond a foundation in neuroscience, psychopharmacology and analytic theory a good psychiatric provider is intuitive and able to think critically. I seek to promote, collaborate and mentor providers and healers who align with the aforementioned view.
Traditional western medicine and psychiatry, as it is practiced currently, is failing both patients and providers. Resilient Minds takes a functional medicine approach to mental health care, understanding that in order to achieve a state of true wellness, practitioners must work with patients on lifestyle modifications, body health, psychic healing and spiritual wellbeing. To that end we seek to collaborate with practitioners and healers from various modalities:
