Coaching For ADHD Executive Functioning

Coaching For ADHD Executive Functioning

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has become part of mainstream American culture. It's not uncommon to overhear "Sorry I'm just so ADHD today I can't find my keys." For patients who truly suffer with executive functioning disorders, this isn't so funny. ADHD can be deeply impairing, causing embarrassment, poor self efficacy, low self esteem, anxiety, frustration and depression.

Stimulant medication is only part of the answer and for many patients, stimulants aren't helpful or side effects are not tolerable. For people recovering from adrenal insufficiency, autoimmune issues, chronic fatigue, complex PTSD or fragile nervous systems, stimulants can exacerbate burn out. Other patients simply want to avoid these medications entirely. We have found that organizational coaching is the fastest way to find relief from ADHD overwhelm. Your coach or therapist can help you put systems and structures in place, explore anxieties and negative beliefs attached to task execution and guide you to a place of productivity and calmness.

We use the tenets of CBT, relational analytic theory and ACT to support those struggling with executive dysfunction. If you are feeling hopeless or overwhelmed by daily tasks, disorganized and never caught up, reach out to us for coaching or combine this with your psychotherapy. For patients taking stimulant medicine at Resilient Minds, such coaching is integrated into your treatment.
