Low Dose Naltrexone

Low Dose Naltrexone

Naltrexone is a medicine traditionally prescribed in doses of  50–150mg to reverse opioid overdoses and treat alcoholism and binge eating. Functional medicine has discovered that low doses of naltrexone (LDN) increases the production of endogenous peptides. Increased levels of endogenous opioid peptides are known to promote healing, inhibit cell growth, and reduce inflammation. This has incredible implications for anti-aging, reversing autoimmune diseases, inflammatory processes and essentially repairing epigenetic damage from stress and trauma.

There is a movement among functional medicine practitioners to get patients this much needed medicine though big Pharma hasn't been interested in funding any studies. LDN is prescribed through a compounding pharmacy and is well tolerated, safe, and inexpensive.  Several key clinical trials have shown that LDN may be promising for the management of recurrent or hard to treat mental illnesses. At Resilient Minds, we are passionate about pairing this treatment with other therapies for anyone suffering from treatment resistant mood and anxiety, PTSD and co-morbid medical conditions or somatic issues.
